Live a Life That Matters

Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end There will be no more sunrises, no minute, hours or days All the things you collected, whether treasured of forgotten will pass to someone else Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed Your grudges, resentments, frustrations, and jealousies will finally disappear   So,too, your hopes, ambitions, plans, and to-do lists will expire The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away it won’t matter where you came from It won’t matter whether you were beautiful of brilliant Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant So what will matter ? What will matter is not what you bought, but what you built Not what you got, but what you gave What will matter is not your success, but your significance What will matter is not what learned, but what you taught What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion courage of sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example What will matter is not your competence, but your character What will matter is not hoe many people you knew but how many will feel a lasting loss when you’re gone What will matter is not your memories but the memories will feel a lasting loss when you’re gone What will matter is how long you will be remembered and for what Living a life that matters doesn’t happen by accident It happens by choice ……………

Inspiring Words Of Life

Follow your heart. Regardless of what others tell you to do, it’s how you feel at the end of the day that matters. Mistakes are painful, but as time goes by, it becomes a collection of experiences called Lessons. There are people that intend to hurt you, but there are also people who get hurt because you are hurt. The pain of yesterday is the strength of today. – Paulo Coelho Life is like a roller coaster. It has its ups and downs. But it’s your choice to scream or enjoy the ride. In life, it’s not about being who everyone else wants you to be, but about being you and finding someone who loves every bit of it. Everyone wants Happiness, no one wants Pain. But you can’t have a Rainbow without a little Rain. Waiting hurts. Forgetting hurts. But not knowing which decision to take is the worst of suffering. – Paulo Coelho At the end of the day, you can choose to either focus on what’s tearing you apart, or what’s holding you together. – Cristina Gilstrap Never regret. If it’s good, it’s wonderful. If it’s bad, it’s experience. – Victoria Holt Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring. – Marilyn Monroe Every man needs a woman when his life is a mess, Because just like in a game of chess, the queen protects the king. Life doesn’t get easier, you just get stronger. Sometimes God doesn’t give you what you think you want, not because you don’t deserve it, but because you deserve better.

Sharpening Your Axe

A man was walking in a forest one day, and he met a woodcutter. It was a hot day, and he sat down for a smoke and engaged in friendly banter with the woodcutter – things about the weather and such. 5 Marlboros later, he asked, “Mr. Woodcutter, you’ve been making little progress on chopping down the tree the last half hour. Perhaps your axe is too blunt, why don’t you sharpen it?”   “That’s the truth! The axe has not been sharpened for a long while now, I could make far better progress with a sharp axe!” said the woodcutter.   “Then why not you take some time to sharpen it now? You’d make good progress!” said the man.   “I don’t really have time for that, you know. I gotta chop down all these trees, I don’t have the luxury of sharpening my axe,” replied the woodcutter. Everybody I know identifies with this story to some degree, and I see a good number people I know, including myself, in the shoes of the woodcutter at times. What is perfectly clear is this: the axe would eventually have to be sharpened or it will be blunted to such an extent that even minimal progress will be impossible. Questions abound: When do we need to sharpen the axe? How many times do we sharpen? Would a partial sharpening do, or do we need to sharpen it to full keeness?   The principle is clear to me – just sharpen the axe sufficiently, as an when would serve to accomplish your work in the minimum time, with minimal effort expended since effort per unit time is assumed a constant. Draw a crucial distinction ...

A True Story Happened In Japan

This is a true story that happened in Japan. In order to renovate thehouse, someone in Japan breaks open the wall. Japanese houses normally have a hollow space between the wooden walls. When tearing down the walls, he found that there was a lizard stuck there because a nail from outside hammered into one of its feet. He sees this, feels pity, and at the same time curious, as when he checked the nail, it was nailed 10 years ago when the house was! first built. What happened? The lizard has survived in such position for 10 years!!!!!!!!!! In a dark wall partition for 10 years without moving, it is impossible and mind-boggling. Then he wondered howthis lizard survived for 10 years! without moving a single step–since its foot wasnailed!   So he stopped his work and observed the lizard, what it has been doing, and what and how it has been eating. Later, not knowing from where it came, appears another lizard, with food in its mouth. Ah! He was stunned and touched deeply. For the lizard that was stuck by nail, another lizard has been feeding it for the past 10 years…   Imagine? it has been doing that untiringly for 10 long years, without giving up hope on its partner.   Think, will u do that to your partner? Think that will you do it to your Mom,Who brought you after a big struggle of Nine long months ?   Or at least to your Dad, Friends, Co-workers, brothers and Sisters? Imagine what a small creature can do that a creature blessed with a brilliant mind can’t. As information and communication technology advances, our access to information becomes faster ...

Self Confidence..!!

Business executive was deep in debt and could see no way out. Creditors were closing in on him. Suppliers were demanding payment. He sat on the park bench, head in hands, wondering if anything could save his company from bankruptcy. Suddenly an old man appeared before him. “I can see that something is troubling you,” he said. After listening to the executive’s woes, the old man said, “I believe I can help you.” He asked the man his name, wrote out a check, and pushed it into his hand saying, “Take this money. Meet me here exactly one year from today, and you can pay me back at that time.” Then he turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come. The business executive saw in his hand a check for $500,000, signed by John D. Rockefeller, then one of the richest men in the world! “I can erase my money worries in an instant!” he realized. But instead, the executive decided to put the uncashed check in his safe. Just knowing it was there might give him the strength to work out a way to save his business, he thought. With renewed optimism, he negotiated better deals and extended terms of payment. He closed several big sales. Within a few months, he was out of debt and making money once again. Exactly one year later, he returned to the park with the uncashed check. At the agreed-upon time, the old man appeared. But just as the executive was about to hand back the check and share his success story, a nurse came running up and grabbed the old man. “I’m so glad I caught him!” she cried. “I hope he hasn’t been bothering ...

The Important Things In Life

A philosophy professor stood before his class with some items on the table in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, about 2 inches in diameter. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He then asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous “Yes.” “Now,” said the professor, “I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The rocks are the important things – your family, your partner, your health, your children – things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter – like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else. The small stuff.” “If you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued “there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to ...

Be Focused :: Short Motivational Message

An ancient Indian sage was teaching his disciples the art of archery. He put a wooden bird as the target and asked them to aim at the eye of the bird. The first disciple was asked to describe what he saw. He said, “I see the trees, the branches, the leaves, the sky, the bird and its eye…” The sage asked this disciple to wait. Then he asked the second disciple the same question and he replied, “I only see the eye of the bird.” The sage said, “Very good, then shoot.” The arrow went straight and hit the eye of the bird.   :: Moral of the Story :: Unless we focus, we cannot achieve our goal. It is hard to focus and concentrate, but it is a skill that can be learned.

An Inspirational Lesson Learned From Mother Teresa

The incident went something like this: One day, Mother Teresa was asking a baker for some bread to feed the hungry children in her orphanage. The baker was furious with her request, not only did he turn her down, he spat at her. In response to his outrageous actions, Mother Teresa calmly reached deep into her pocket, took out her handkerchief, wiped the spat off and said “That was for me, now what about some bread for my poor children.” The baker was touched by Mother Teresa’s love and greatness, complied and thereafter provided bread for the children in the orphanage.   How would you have reacted? My first reaction was a mix of anger and humiliation. How could someone ever do something so nasty? Mother Teresa chose to react differently, she knew that if she had not taken the insulting spit in full grace, the poor children at the orphanage would have to go on being hungry.   The lesson that I learned from Mother Teresa: When guided by one’s purpose, one can choose appropriate reactions to any situation in life. No matter how disagreeing is the circumstance.   I will end this entry with a quote by Mother Teresa which i found from the book “Talent Unleashed”, “No matter who say what, you should accept it with a smile and do your own work.” ~ Mother Teresa

In The Search Of Diamond :: Awesome Short Story

There was a farmer in Africa who was happy and content. He was happy because he was content. He was content because he was happy. One day a wise man came to him and told him about the glory of diamonds and the power that goes along with them. The wise man said, “If you had a diamond the size of your thumb, you could have your own city. If you had a diamond the size of your fist, you could probably own your own country.” And then he went away. That night the farmer couldn’t sleep. He was unhappy and he was discontent. He was unhappy because he was discontent and discontent because he was unhappy. The next morning he made arrangements to sell off his farm, took care of his family and went in search of diamonds. He looked all over Africa and couldn’t find any. He looked all through Europe and couldn’t find any. When he got to Spain, he was emotionally, physically and financially broke. He got so disheartened that he threw himself into the Barcelona River and committed suicide. Back home, the person who had bought his farm was watering the camels at a stream that ran through the farm. Across the stream, the rays of the morning sun hit a stone and made it sparkle like a rainbow. He picked up the stone and put it in the living room. That afternoon the wise man came and saw the stone sparkling. He asked about farmer. The new owner said, “No, why do you ask?” The wise man said, “Because that is a diamond. I recognize one when I see one.” The man said, no, that’s just a stone I picked up from the stream. Come, I’ll show you. There ...

The Comfort Zone – Inspiring story

Once there was a king who received a gift of two magnificent falcons from Arabia. They were peregrine falcons, the most beautiful birds he had ever seen. He gave the precious birds to his head falconer to be trained. Months passed and one day the head falconer informed the king that though one of the falcons was flying majestically, soaring high in the sky, the other bird had not moved from its branch since the day it had arrived. The king summoned healers and sorcerers from all the land to tend to the falcon, but no one could make the bird fly. He presented the task to the member of his court, but the next day, the king saw through the palace window that the bird had still not moved from its perch. Having tried everything else, the king thought to himself, “May be I need someone more familiar with the countryside to understand the nature of this problem.” So he cried out to his court, “Go and get a farmer.” In the morning, the king was thrilled to see the falcon soaring high above the palace gardens. He said to his court, “Bring me the doer of this miracle.” The court quickly located the farmer, who came and stood before the king. The king asked him, “How did you make the falcon fly?” With his head bowed, the farmer said to the king, ” It was very easy, your highness. I simply cut the branch where the bird was sitting.” We are all made to fly — to realize our incredible potential as human beings. But instead of doing that, we sit on our branches, clinging to the things that are familiar to us. The possibilities are endless, ...

I Will ( Forever And Always )

Here we are in this secret place The world seems so far away Wrapped around in love’s warm embrace. Holding your hand and i am trying to look at you But my eyes just don’t seem to meet yours , Because i find it amazingly beautiful The clear moonlight from the gray skies are reflecting in your eyes, Your hair shimmers gently with wind You are driving me so wild. I am trying to be strong Thinking of not meeting those soft lips Don’t get me wrong Just want to seal my love with one kiss. You are the picture perfect girl The one of whom i thought of every night, I cannot buy you diamonds and pearls But being with you just feels so right. I want to give you everything you ever wanted I promise you will wake up everyday with a rose on your bed I will whisper all that you need to hear I will do things for you no one ever has done or said. Will carry you to bed every night Lie with you down beside till you close your eyes, Wrap you in my arms and turn off the lights. Even when we grow old i will wake you up with a kiss every sunrise, Whenever you feel cold I will cover you with a blanket every night. We will dance in rain and snow Will live every moment Like there is no tomorrow. I will never take you for granted Will love you in every little way you wanted Never let a tear fall from your face Will be right next to you forever and always. I will let the world know that you are the prettiest thing i have ever seen And YOU are My Queen.

Why Do You Beat Yourself Up

Why do you beat yourself up because you had the courage to love gave all of yourself in hopes that She was the one Why do you beat yourself up When it was her choice to be unfaithful her choice to hurt you Why do you beat yourself up Knowing that you had done everything for her supported her, comforted her, loved her more than you loved yourself Why after her lies and deceit do you still love her? and want her to love you Why after the repeat of hurt and trust being lost do you think that she deserves a love as pure as yours Why do you beat yourself up over what you could have done better when you know deep down there was nothing What makes you search for answers as to why when they will not change the past, Nor mend your broken heart Why when a Woman decides to cheat do we blame ourselves? why does it make us question every little detail about who we are Make us think that we are not worthy of love Why when a woman cheats do we still long for her to change Realize how wrong she was, and fall in love with us again Why do you beat yourself up When you deserve more When all that you have done is loved someone completely Give yourself time and the pain will subside and the mourning will cease You will see that you are still you Still wonderful, beautiful you Nothing has changed except your experience in love And your determination to share love with another As you can never truly love someone until you learn to love yourself

If You Forget Me

I want you to know one thing. You know how this is: if I look at the crystal moon, at the red branch of the slow autumn at my window, if I touch near the fire the impalpable ash or the wrinkled body of the log, everything carries me to you, as if everything that exists, aromas, light, metals, were little boats that sail toward those isles of yours that wait for me. Well, now, if little by little you stop loving me I shall stop loving you little by little. If suddenly you forget me do not look for me, for I shall already have forgotten you. If you think it long and mad, the wind of banners that passes through my life and you decide to leave me at the shore of the heart where I have roots, remember that on that day, at that hour, I shall lift my arms and my roots will set off to seek another land. But if each day, each hour, you feel that you are destined for me with implacable sweetness, if each day a flower climbs up to your lips to seek me, ah my love, ah my own, in me all that fire is repeated, in me nothing is extinguished or forgotten, my love feeds on your love, beloved, and as long as you live it will be in your arms without leaving mine.
